A Miele fridge door panel is fitted to a panel-ready built-in refrigerator so the door matches the cabinets, and the way you fit it is set by the installation instructions for your exact model. Our model pages list the finish of these refrigerators as integrated or panel-ready, but they do not give panel sizes, weights, fixings or the order of the steps, and we do not invent them. This guide explains which Miele refrigerators are panel-ready, what to settle before the panel is made and what to check once it is on.
Which Miele refrigerators take a door panel?
Our model pages list the finish of the MasterCool columns as integrated or panel-ready, with the install type given as a built-in column, panel-ready. That covers the refrigerator columns such as the K 2602 Vi, K 2802 Vi and K 2902 Vi, the bottom-freezer columns KF 2802 Vi and KF 2902 Vi, the French-door bottom-freezer column KF 2982 Vi, the all-freezer columns F 2412 Vi, F 2472 Vi and F 2902 Vi, and the KFN 7795 D bottom-mount refrigerator. The widths on those pages run from 18 inches to 36 inches.
On the column pages the finish line reads Integrated / panel-ready (Vi). A refrigerator without a panel-ready finish is not built for a matching door panel, so confirm your model before you order a panel. If you are not sure what you have, match the number on the data plate with the page on our site.
Miele dishwashers on our site are also panel-ready, but panel instructions are written per appliance and per model. Do not reuse a dishwasher panel template or a neighboring refrigerator’s measurements, even if the widths look alike, because the instructions are written for each model separately.
What should you settle before the panel is made?
Settle the model first, because the panel is made for one door. Then get the installation instructions for that model, since they give the panel dimensions and weight and the way it is meant to be attached. Pass them to whoever builds the panel and ask them to work from the instructions, not from the look of a neighbor’s kitchen. We do not list sizes or fastener types because our pages do not, and a panel cut to a guess is expensive to correct.
The model pages also list the door opening as Push2Open, which is handle-free. Because the door is handle-free, how the panel is fitted and how the door releases are covered by the manual, and you should check that section before the panel is finished. If the instructions mention anything about the surface behind the panel or the clearance around it, make sure the cabinet maker has seen it.

What does the opening and the cabinet need to do?
Our refrigerator installation guide makes several general points for a built-in MasterCool column. The opening, ventilation clearances and leveling all matter for the doors to seal and for the unit to shed heat. Confirm that the cabinet opening and clearances match the model specification before fitting, level the unit so the doors self-close and the seals seat evenly, and connect and purge the water line before you expect ice. Demo or showroom mode must be off, because a refrigerator left in demo mode will not cool however well it is fitted. Our Miele refrigerator installation guide covers these checks, and the demo mode guide explains what to look for.
The installation guide also notes that door alarms can mean the unit is not level and the doors are not sealing. That applies after a panel goes on too. A panel adds weight to a door, so recheck that the door closes by itself and that the seal sits evenly all round once the panel is fitted. Do not take the door off or loosen hinges to improve the fit. Follow the manual or call a technician.
Can you fit the panel yourself?
Only if the installation instructions for your model describe it as an owner task and you are comfortable lifting and holding a large panel. Many people use the cabinet maker or a qualified installer, who can also check the level and the clearances. Do not drill into the door, use adhesives or change fixings unless the instructions say so. The refrigerator door carries a seal, controls and inner parts that you cannot see, and damage there is a repair, not an adjustment.
Do not take off any cover to reach a fixing. If anything about the panel fit is unclear, stop and ask. Our MasterCool guide and refrigerator tips explain how the unit is meant to run once it is installed.
What if something is wrong after the panel is on?
If the door does not close fully, rubs the cabinet or the unit sounds an alarm, recheck the level and the clearances first. A refrigerator that seems warm on day one may still be in demo mode. If the problem remains, do not force the door, because forcing a door can damage the seal and the hinges. Our temperature alarm guide explains the alarm, and our Miele refrigerator repair page explains how a visit works.
