Miele FlexiFrame is the name our model pages give to the wooden shelving in Miele KWT wine coolers. Every KWT wine unit we list, from the KWT 6312 UGS undercounter to the KWT 2612 Vi column, shows FlexiFrame wooden shelving in its specifications. The pages describe it only as wooden shelving, so this glossary sticks to what is documented and explains the terms that surround it on a spec sheet: TempControl zones, Push2Open, Active AirClean, UV-protected glass and the finish codes in the model name.
What is Miele FlexiFrame?
On the specification block of each KWT model page, the line for shelving reads FlexiFrame wooden shelving. That is the shelving system in the wine cabinet: wooden shelves rather than metal wire racks. Our pages do not describe how the shelves slide, tilt or lock, so check the owner’s manual of your model for the exact way to remove a shelf or reposition it, and do not force one that resists.
The models where the site lists FlexiFrame are the KWT 6312 UGS, KWT 6322 UG, KWT 6722 iS, KWT 2602 SF and KWT 2612 Vi. All five are 24 inches wide. The bottle counts differ: the KWT 6312 UGS page lists 46 bottles and the KWT 2612 Vi page 104 bottles, while the other pages describe capacity only as undercounter or column capacity.
What does TempControl mean on a Miele wine cooler?
TempControl is the system that gives separate temperature zones in one cabinet. The KWT 6312 UGS, KWT 6322 UG and KWT 6722 iS pages describe independent or dual zones, the KWT 2602 SF multiple independent zones and the KWT 2612 Vi three independent zones. Our guide to how Miele wine cooler TempControl works explains how to use zones for reds, whites and sparkling wines. The point of the zones is that you do not have to store everything at one compromise temperature.
Zones matter to shelving as well, because the bottles you place on a shelf should match that zone’s temperature. Plan your layout before you load the cabinet, so each bottle sits in the zone set for its style, and check your manual for which shelves belong to which zone.

What are Push2Open, Active AirClean and UV-protected glass?
Push2Open is the handle-free door: press the door and it opens. It is why a KWT front looks flush. Do not confuse it with knock2open, a separate feature found only on handleless Miele dishwashers, which our Knock2open glossary explains. Active AirClean is the charcoal filter that keeps the air in the cabinet fresh, and our Miele wine cooler tips say to replace it on its schedule. UV-protected glass shields the bottles from light that can harm wine, and the pages also list a low-vibration compressor and soft LED interior lighting.
These features sit alongside the shelving on the same specification line. When you compare two Miele wine coolers, read the whole block: the shelving, the zones, the door opening, the air filter, the glass and the compressor each appear as a separate line, and the differences between models usually show up in the zones, the bottle count and the finish. A feature missing from a page does not prove a unit lacks it, so confirm with Miele’s own specification sheet before you buy.
If you are planning an installation, our Miele wine cooler installation guide lists what to prepare, and the wine cooler buying guide helps you pick between undercounter and column units.
What is a wooden wine shelf for, in general terms?
Wine is stored lying down so the cork stays in contact with the wine, and a shelf has to carry that weight without letting bottles roll or touch each other. Wooden shelves are a common choice in wine cabinets because they are gentle on labels and bottles. Whether a shelf pulls out, tilts or lifts out on your model is for your owner’s manual to say.
Keep bottles from pressing hard against the cabinet back or the glass. What FlexiFrame lets you do with the shelving on your exact model is in the owner’s manual.
What do the finish letters in the model name mean?
The finish line on each page decodes the ending of the model name, and only that. UG is described as undercounter, UGS as undercounter with a stainless and glass finish, iS as integrated stainless, SF as stainless front and Vi as integrated and panel-ready. We do not decode the other letters or numbers, because our pages do not, so do not guess at them. The width, 24 inches on all five, is listed separately.
How do you care for FlexiFrame shelving?
Our pages give no cleaning instructions for the shelving itself, so follow the cleaning section of your manual. As a general precaution for wooden shelves, remove the bottles first, take a shelf out only as the manual shows, and avoid soaking the wood or using strong or scented cleaners that could leave an odor in the cabinet. Keep the ventilation grille clear and avoid overfilling, as our tips guide says bottles need air gaps to cool evenly. Light condensation inside and a white coating on corks are described there as normal.
If the cabinet alarms or warms, our guides on a temperature alarm and a wine cooler not cooling help you decide what to check. Do not open the back or touch the compressor area; switch the breaker off from a dry spot and call a technician if you smell burning or see water near the outlet.
