Miele oven model families
Miele ovens read by suffix within the Generation 7000 program, and the suffix is the first step in any Miele oven repair. BP marks a pyrolytic oven (H 7280 BP, H 7580 BP, H 7880 BP, H 7263 BP 24-inch, H 7660 BP AM 24-inch); BM marks a speed combi-microwave (H 7240 BM AM 24-inch, H 7770 BM 30-inch); and DGC marks a combi-steam oven (DGC 7440 AM 24-inch, DGC 7860 AM XXL, DGC 7780 30-inch, DGC 7785 plumbed). The AM suffix denotes a US model. Note that the US lineup is combi-steam DGC — pure-steam DG ovens are not sold here.
What the technology means for service
A Miele oven carries MultiSteam, Moisture Plus moisture injection, the FoodView in-cavity camera, TasteControl, MasterChef and MasterChef Plus programs, M Touch controls and an AirClean catalyzer; DGC models add DualSteam and a Wireless Precision Probe. The temperature sensor drives the F05/F06 codes, the pyrolytic latch drives F32/F33, and the meat probe drives F54. Identifying whether you own a BP pyrolytic, a BM speed oven or a DGC combi-steam tells a technician which heating, steam and control systems are in play.
Reading the model and where to find it
The rating plate on a built-in oven is usually along the door frame or on the side of the cavity opening, visible with the door open. Record the full spaced model string before booking so the correct element, sensor, latch, steam component or board is matched to your oven.
Pyrolytic, speed and combi-steam
The suffix decides both how an oven cooks and how it is serviced. A BP pyrolytic oven self-cleans by burning residue to ash, which is why its door latch and F23/F32/F33 codes matter; a BM speed oven combines convection with microwave for fast results and adds a microwave subsystem; and a DGC combi-steam oven adds a water path, a steam generator and the DualSteam system. Knowing which you own tells a technician the parts and the cleaning or steam systems involved. You can browse comparable units on the oven models page.
